One of the nylon gears in the bay door lock actuator cracked and a piece broke off. This occurred in the DS Bay door of the Invertor system. Had to crawl in from the opposite bay in order to unlock the bay door. The remote actuates the gears in the lock but the broken piece doesn't engage to unlock.
Where to we get a replacement? Foretravel has a workable unit that needs to be modified to fit which I'm reluctant to mess with, Any ideas?
Fiddler, both you and time have discovered the weak link in the electric lock. I have replaced more than 1/2 of mine with the kit that comes from FT. It has all the parts you need, the actuator is mounted to a small aluminum place that gets stuck in place with double sided tape, it includes the wiring (you may gave to do some splicing). Once it is all together try it out before you set the plate in place to make sure it works well. If you don't want to replace it then just disconnect it. the latch and key lock will still work.
This is what I have been using. They cost next to nothing on ebay.

I carry 3 of those as spares.
Maz do you have a part # or name to search for them?
I need to get a couple spares.
No I don't. Their are many to choose from on ebay. Just search universal door lock actuator.

Apparently FT no longer offers rebuild kit; instead they offer a replacement actuator that requires some mod to interface at $54.60.
Looks like one of the many knock-offs on the site provided by MAZ on EBay should work. Checking which wiring configuration might work best. Thx to all for the guidance.
Changed mine out 2 yrs ago and the cheap ones work just fine.. I have 3 or 4 back up pieces.. Cheap enough to try
