Many like me assume the worst when a problem occurs. This morning as we got ready to leave the back up camera failed. Worked perfectly the day before. Voyager WiFi had power at the monitor but no signal.
Strange day driving through the mountains without eyes to the rear. Made me realize I needed my side mirrors adjusted better. Stopped more frequently to make sure the toad was still there.
Once we pulled in for the night I removed the cover in the cabinet over the bed cabinet. Never had been in there. Power to camera OK but what a dirty mess was in there. Wires with no use and unused wire nuts. Definitely want to clean up this area this winter. I guess this is where the air inlet is for the engine air?
Pulled connector from camera to power lead...really dirty. A little dielectric and reset connector...SUCCESS! Camera OK.
Hope someday I'll assume the easy solution 😊.
1. Those wire cable runs were made up in the wire shop for various coaches. They made up one set and only used certain wires for a 270, others for the 295 and 320, was cheaper to do it that way rather than having a single set for each model much less each coach. They are for the overhead console that was installed on some coaches, which can have at least a clock, docking light switch, generator start switch, that uses these wires.
2. Yes

My camera's acting wonky, it still goes through the Audit box. It starts out working great but as the day goes along, especially on a bumpy road, the monitor starts flickering. And with the generator running it seems worse. At times it will go out completely.
So this winter I plan to add a rearview monitor on the bottom of the TV cabinet. If that doesn't fix the problem then I'll change out the camera, then the wire. But it could be a bad connection at the camera like yours so I'll check that first. Probably still add a new monitor though since my DW has a hard time seeing the current monitor where it's located.
Yes, the most vulnerable spot is the wiring behind the camera. Those wires are very small and those butt connections can fail. They are unsupported and can spend their lives shaking themselves apart back there.
