Post by: jor on September 19, 2018, 02:53:05 pm
Anyone know a source for this seal on the bottom of the shower door? Mine has a rip in it. Thanks.

I just ordered from AMAZON PRIME LINE PRODUCTS M6184 SHOWER DOOR SEAL. Will need to be cut to size. Not sure if it's the right one yet.

Shower enclosures are Alumax.  We found a local distributor who found us a local glass shop installer who made us a new shower enclosure in brushed nickel.  All new gaskets, seals, glass and aluminum parts.

Look inside for the part number.

Roger I took mine apart and sprayed painted it.. Don't think it's going to hold up though.
What did a new shower enclosure set you back, if you don't mind me asking.. There are some on Amazon, but not the same manufacturer. Alumax lists 3 companies in town that might be able to make one.

All new enclosure with new tempered glass, remove the old, install the new was under $800.  Theybadded a second towel bar.  The new door is hinged differently which make a 2" bigger opening.  Took just over a week.  Pretty good value in my book.

Wonder if you can get the enclosure without glass... since my glass is in great shape. $800 is a good price though.

The side glass from the original shower enclosure would have worked but the wider door needed new glass.  It was way cheaper to go with new glass all around than to match the lines and etch the new glass for the door.  One of the side pieces had a chip out of an edge as well so all new glass.

I thought about powder coating but the time to remove and disassemble (without breaking the glass), clean up all the old caulk and reassemble (without breaking the glass) with all new glass and door gaskets and reinstall with new caulk made the price to have it done professionally seem like a bargain especially given a finite life on the powder coating.

WOW, showers have doors? What will they think of next!! :))  >:D
Our '89 has a sliding curtain and if I am not careful I would step in the toilet getting out of the shower. (lots of room :)) )
Stand in the middle of the tub/shower or I wouldn't be able to stand up straight. I have to be centered in the skylight opening and I am only 5'10".

If your paint doesnt work. ( it might after it cures)
Go to Harbour Freight, buy a sand blaster.. sand blast all your parts to get the paint off. Send me the parts and I will powder them for you in oil rubbed bronze...

Not to hijack this thread but need a bottom plastic wiper for the bottom of our curved door.  Have not found any ID on the frame anywhere.  P/N ?

Will check with Alumax.

First one I bought didn't work, this one looks more like it though but haven't checked the actual dimensions yet though. The channel mine goes into it "T" shaped so this one might work, just don't know if the actual dimensions will fit.

Thanks for the lead.  I'll get my Vermeer calipers out and check dimensions.
