Title: Detroit Diesel Series 92 Service Manual
Post by: stump on September 22, 2018, 08:27:06 am
Do any of you own a set of the Factory 92 Series  Service Manuals? I am wanting to Buy a set to keep on hand and I find an Edition dated Oct 1988. Then I find the newest Edition 6SE379 Dated March 2003. Were there any editions Between that time period? Or did the 1988 version cover all the 92 Series until the 2003 edition was published? Anybody Know?

Stump,

I have a copy of the Series 92 service manual dated October 1988.
I also have a copy of the DDEC II Diagnostic Troubleshooting Guide dated May 1988.
Don't know of any later editions. Both manuals are huge and very comprehensive.

I have a Email to MTU who now covers all the 92 series engines. I asked my question. We will see what the reply is if I get one. I am thinking the Oct 1988 edition covers all the 92 up through the 90's into 2000+ and was updated in 2003 I noticed in the 2003 edition they mention DDEC 3 and 4 etc. What makes me wonder is when they took the 92 off the road around 95/96 The DDEC3 system was in place at that time. I was interested in the procedure how the injector height is checked. The 88 manual goes into the mechanical overhead but I did not see reference to the EUI Electronic Unit Injectors setting procedure. I do my overhead in my Series 60 once  a year. I just wanted to compare the procedures etc. Also I like having Books I can reference too, make copies on hand.

On Highway 395/Mammoth/June Lake. Have manual on CD. Can burn a copy when we get home. Craneman, trees are turning and a great fall awaits you when you arrive. 395 rules!

All Foretravels with 6V-92TA are DDEC II. 1.475" is stock timing asI remember. .007" equals 1 degree timing change. Check injector height for your serial number.
