I wanted to go all naked on the coach so it didn't look so dated, after trying to remove the weathered front decals they left a stain that went all the way through the gelcoat, that left me heartbroken. Today i finally got an idea on a partial front wrap. So i decided to clean up the front cap sides. Got rid of the funky little fore "crest of arms", and the really dated foretravel lettering, and the foretravel manf. decal, and the double triangle things. Much cleaner look now. Have new fuel door yet to install. Next to go may be the gothic grand Villa to be replaced with something more elegant.
WHY do you people keep doing this to me!?!?!?
Looking good, phred
More better
Semi clean nose
Ok to dark
Lookin' good! I like your front license plate frame - classic Foretravel memorabilia!
I also favor the clean nose look. I wish I still had the original front license plate bracket, which mounted in the center, under the "bumper". One of our coach's prior owners moved the plate to the removable panel- I have no idea why. The asymmetry irritates me.
What is that do-dad in the middle of your pic next to the GV stripe? I wish I still had the pics of when ours had been stripped of everything and repainted, before the new stripes. It looked like a high-end prison bus! I like the 'retro' look; even with a re-do of the classic, original striping, people still think she's brand new!
Phred said something in original post about a "new fuel door yet to install". Can that be the fuel filler port, with the gas cap showing?
Do-dad is fuel fill port that is too small for a big rig diesel nozzle. My gvwr. is over 26k so i can't legally buy fuel in AZ. $1000 fine. Can't legally use the RV island, can't use the Trucker island. After 30 minutes i went and asked the clerk and he said use the RV island, cause the tax man never checks RV for gvwr. Going to add big rig fuel neck under the port side front access door just to reduce time it takes to fill fuel tank.
There is a thread about this and an answer from an official in AZ stating we don't have to pay the truck tax even though we are over the 26,000lb. To bad Michelle doesn't get here much she always found these tidbits.
Found it!
RV Arizona: Arizona fuel tax rumor goes viral -- here's the real story (http://rvarizona.blogspot.com/2014/10/arizona-fuel-tax-rumor-goes-viral-heres.html)
Thanks, Chuck! We do all our fueling in AZ, and I'm going to bookmark that site. I would think, since I'm using the 'dinky' nozzles, I'm not being billed higher.
Thanks craneman, hey my own thread jack turned out quite informative.
Why do you think this? You are not part of IRP International Registration Plan. You are a Private Coach you can fuel where you want. You guys need to stop comparing to Comercial Trucks you are not. Buying fuel for your coach is just like buying for your car.
Naked is fine, and I also don't object to the design of the original stripes. Actually, I prefer Foretravel's classic designs to some of the "swirls" I see on new coaches.
So - "you're beautiful, naked or not!"
New fuel door in lower part of picture. When i do a wrap back to the front cap joint, to hide the decal and stripe stains, i think i will have them pull the mid stripe back past the A pillar a couple of inches to align with the top stripes and match the A pillar slope.
Ok another bad photo
Make sure you don't lose the spring loaded plastic pin or the spring itself.
