Title: STEP WONT MOVE 06 PHENIX
Post by: Boeingdrivr on September 30, 2018, 10:47:32 am
OK, RIGHT UP FRONT, IM A PILOT NOT A MECHANIC AND MOST PILOTS NEED PICTURES!.  I ADMIT IT.  SO MAKE IT SIMPLE.  :)
SAYING THAT I HAVE A STEP THAT WONT MOVE ON A 06 PHENIX.  WHEN I START THE ENGINE, CLOSE THE DOOR I CAN SEE ONE SIDE OF THE STEP TRYING TO MOVE AND I CAN ACTUALLY PUSH ON IT SLIGHTLY AND MOVE IT A SMALL AMOUNT BUT THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STEP WILL NOT BUDGE.  I TALKED TO JAMES AT FACTORY BUT CANNOT FIND THE "SQUARE" THING WHERE THERE IS A "PLUNGER". I HAVE THE STEP THAT JUST SLIDES OUT.  SO IF ANYONE CAN HELP, MAYBE SEND ME A PIC ON HOW I CAN GET THIS STEP IN SO I CAN HEAD TO THE FACTORY IT WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

COULD BE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD!

Are you shouting? Look under part of step that you stand on, and you will see the ends of two air cylinder rams. Either remove the pins, or unscrew the brackets. You should be able to slide step in and tape it closed, You might have to secure the air rams if they hang too low.
This is if you have the single slide out step like some 03's have.

There is a cover that must be removed before you can see and access the air cylinder that opens and closes the step. It is directly under the entry step when it is retracted. Sorry no pic to show you though.

Maybe my coach is different than yours, but it also has a cover over the air cylinders when closed, but when the step is extended, the end of the cylinder ram, the clevis pin and its attachment to the step is exposed. When step closed, cannot see any of the step mechanism.
