Just replaced the 3 kitchen counter ceiling puck lights with these:
Amazon.com: Facon 3 Inch LED RV Puck Light Full Aluminum Recessed Mount Down... (http://www.amazon.com/Facon-Aluminum-Recessed-Interior-Motor-Homes/dp/B01NBR0OAQ)
Super easy to install. Fits in existing hole. Just need to cut off old lights and crimp on new ones and pop them into hole.
Seems to be nearly as bright as former halogen lights.
Much better solution than trying to replace bulb. I know, I've tried several.
And they only cost $10 each.
Jim
Thanks for the Amazon link.
You have been a busy boy. :D
They look good and the price is good, but there is nothing in the description about heat sinks on the unit, and LED's are prone to heat. The space these lights are in is shallow and with no ventilation so that would be my only concern. My PO put in led bulbs on my lights and many of them have only 1 or 2 leds working out of 3, so not a fan of them either. I think the key is to have good heat control and not ask to much out of them in terms of lumens as it translates into some heat which spells instant disaster.
Also I have like 30 or more of these lights on my rig, and that would get expensive fast. Easier to change the bulbs....
these are what I might use soon (http://www.m4products.com/g4-6-5630-side-ww-warm-white-elite-series-smallest-g4-t3-samsung-5630-leds-side-pins/)
the M4 line are good bulbs. The elite series addresses the heat issue as best as can be in such a small bulb. And it's a lot easier to install the bulb than replace the fixture.
Here is another choice that we used.
Amazon.com: ITC (69231B-3K-DB 3" Radiance LED Overhead Light/Spring Mount:... (https://amazon.com/ITC-69231B-3K-DB-Radiance-Overhead-Spring/dp/B00ISLQX18/ref=pd_bxgy_263_3?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B00ISLQX18&pd_rd_r=daa00b11-cca2-11e8-9fea-e722222b4194&pd_rd_w=Ptyyi&pd_rd_wg=WuLSB&pf_rd_i=desktop-dp-sims&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_p=6725dbd6-9917-451d-beba-16af7874e407&pf_rd_r=0TEPT0J4XX99HFCP7A7H&pf_rd_s=desktop-dp-sims&pf_rd_t=40701&psc=1&refRID=0TEPT0J4XX99HFCP7A7H)
Glass lens, a bit less depth, warm white temps (3000° K), fits easliy in the hole.
We have dimmers on most, usually not on full blast especially in the evenings. No heat sinks needed. Way less heat than the halogen bulbs. We used the 4.5" ones over the kitchen sink (2) and over the dining table.
The Facon lights are 1" deep which in under counter locations means you need to raise the inside cabinet floor for them to fit. The ITC lights need this too but less.
The Facon lights are higher lumens for less watts, this only makes sense if they are higher Kelvin temps, more blue white light or the actual lumens is less or power consumed is more.
The 10 watt halogen bulbs in the OEM fixtures are 120 lumens each.
20-Watt Equivalent G4 LED (https://www.homedepot.com/p/Philips-20-Watt-Equivalent-G4-LED-Light-Bulb-Bright-White-Capsule-458513/206357790)
This one is not a good option to use to replace few bad bulbs I have in my puck light?
Thank you,
AL
This is what I use.
10X G4 5W 6W AC DC 12V LED COB Mini Crystal Bulb Light Replace Halogen Lamp... (https://www.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F302807231657)
We had Halogens in our '98 and they were very hot! LED's are the way to go, with less heat and less power. A plus all the way around!
I tried the ones Roger mentioned and they are indeed too thick. I also did not want to raise all my cabinet bottoms to accommodate them. So back they went.
I used these in my last Winnebago renovations and they work great. They are just slightly smaller in diameter so there is a very slight shadow line around them from the old ones but you only see it if you lay on your back, on the floor and don't have the lights on and the light from outside is just right... so it does not bother me.
The biggest issue was the maddeningly short leads that FT put on the OEM lights. Other than that, cut them, wire nut them and spring them into place. It says 2.4" hole but they fit the +/- 2.25" OEM hole just fine. And they are only about $8.00 a piece.

Those look nice. Lots of good choices out there. Be sure to buy extras now, some day in the future they may not be available.
The ITC fixtures with the all glass lenses I used work fine in the ceiling where there is some padded ceiling material. Undercabinet where it is just the wooden bottom I took out a few screws along the inside edge of the inside cabinet bottom (2 or 3 per section), pulled it up and slipped in a tongue depressor stick under the edge and screwed it back down. It was enough.
I looked at those but I was not crazy about the clip attachment. The spring loaded ones are much easier to remove should I ever have to do so... But they all beat the OEM gold halogens by a mile!
Yep, that is an excellent idea for any of these upgrades we do. I guess I don't have any tongue depressors laying around or maybe I would have tried that... :D
I have bags full of tongue depressors. They get used for mixing stains and epoxy, glue spreaders, spacers. Handy for me in a wood working shop.
Actually, these are really easy to remove and replace if need be. They seem to hold firm going down the road as well. I did look at the ones you purchased and considered those as well.
