Title: Ginny batteries
Post by: hdff on October 13, 2018, 03:29:34 pm
Talking with a friend that has a SOB about his Ginny not starting. This may be a stupid question but doesn't the Ginny get its power to start from the big motors batteries? He said something different and made my mind start thinking that I was learning something new again today. Mine is a 2000 u320

On our GV the generator starter gets its juice from the coach battery bank.

Kinda makes sense to me.  Say you ran your engine start batteries down by doing something stupid, like leaving the headlights on.  In that case, you would want to be able to get the generator started, so you could recharge the engine start batteries (using the BOOST switch).  Hopefully, the coach batteries would have sufficient power to start the generator.

We have a battery in the generator bay, and I run a trickle charger to it off the coach batteries. Had the same set up on my bus. Works for us  ^.^d
