Title: 91 Gran Villa front tv project
Post by: windwalker on October 14, 2018, 08:38:11 am
Have had our Grand Villa for about a year now and it had an old standard def tv in the front. Can see why that may have been cool in the day but just a bit to antiquated now. The old tv hangs down to low and made the space up front feel to congested. New tv is a 24" high def model that we keep on shelf over the drawer that comes out when we unpack from travel mode into enjoy camping mode.So we thought it would be nice to make a smaller storage area to free up the front of the coach. I must say it was nerve wracking making the first cut of the wood backed leather tv surround because one bad cut would have ruined everything. Cut once, measure about a hundred times, sleep on it, measure again then go at it. Turned out great, those baskets are perfect for quick access stuff like sunglasses, wallets, keys, etc.

Nice job and a good use of that otherwise wasted space. We had a 225 with a similar setup. I ended up just blocking the hole and painting the wood. Came out pretty good but I like your solution better.

That is a nice install job.
Our  32in  TV sits on the large curbside table facing the couch.  It rides  under the table  facing the wall .
Running a 120 V box to the floor under it , fed from a stand alone Pure sine inverter , in on the list.

I dont have enough front facing chairs to watch the center mounted set.

Ditto, AND, I hate sitting on couch and having to turn my head sideways to watch front-mounted TV.  Gives me a crick in the neck!

Like you, we set ours on the table opposite the couch for a while - carried it on the floor in the bedroom when moving.  Then I got tired of toting it back and forth, so I stuck it up permanently on the wall.  Perfect eye level viewing position when we sit on the couch.

When you are parked?  At night?  When it's raining?  When the wind is blowing 50 mph?  Then what?  :sleepy:
