Title: Changed out toilet, Sealand 510 for Dometic 320
Post by: Jack Lewis on October 14, 2018, 04:05:28 pm
Completed last night, as a leaking valve for the 510 seemed like a good time to upgrade the 21 year old Sealand 510. My parts store guy Joe, at http://www.nwrvsupply.com/ recommended the Dometic 320. I bought it all from NW RV Supply with only Joe's recommendation as I've known and been a satisfied customer of his for over 10 years. After reading positive and negative reviews I installed the 320. After a days use by the wife and myself we are very pleased with the upgrade.
You can see the difference in height in the pictures with relationship to the cabinet, cabinet still has easy access. No more feeling of a loose base, appreciate the height, and and improved function of the porcelin bowl automatic cleaning rinse and low water usage. An 1/8 inch drill was used for pilot holes for the included 8 stainless screws used to place the 2 bolt adapter mount over and drill thru the 4 bolt attachment. As is the 510, the 320 is for direct drop black tank.
I cutoff the water supply and installed a Sharkbite water cutoff to make any future leak not a problem. I also purchased the Dometic adapter kit that made it very easy to convert from the older 4 bolt hold down to the new toilets 2 bolt hold down. At first it seemed expensive, however the ease it made the install, it was worth it, and made for a very precise, stable base. I would not do the upgrade again without it. The connection was made with a normal toilet 1/2 to 3/8 reinforced connector finishing off the easy upgrade. Pictures are of old 510 and new 320 which is available in bone and white. I chose white as it was in stock and local from Northwest RV Supply in Eugene, Oregon. Our kids have a 2000 4210 U320 and it has a manual toilet. I don't know the tank configuration.

Did the exact same a few months ago (after rebuilding the 510 twice) It was time, I just barely fit, but works really nice!

Jack,
Did you have to modify the cabinet door behind the 320 to be able to use it?
Thanks,
Trent

We don't have a direct drop either and the pipe sweeps back toward the inside of the coach before it drops into the large tank, but we have mounted the 320 Dometic and it works fine! Hope this helps!

I did not modify the door. I still have good access. Recently I replaced a water line below in this area to the water heater. I just removed the cabinet door to do the work, and then re installed.
