I think everyone has some, where PO mounted something. Any suggestions on how to fill or hide them. Wax crayons? I have four that I know about.
Phred,
Depends on how big and where. If they are small, colored crayons might work. If they are big enough you can drill them out larger, find a matching piece of hardwood, and use a plug cutter to fill the hole you have just drilled out.
Just out of curiosity, do you have walnut, cherry, or oak?
Len
Push them in 1st with the handle of a screw driver to make them in-set. Then putty stick.Go over with old English scratch remover. Dark if walnut, natural if oak or cherry
about what size and in what material?
mine had some in a wall and they were small and of all things they used clear silicone. It work pretty good as I did not notice it until I was wiping down the walls and I could feel it.
If in wood there are some filler materials in small tubes that should work fine
If in exterior I have been using some white marine epoxy from West Marine.
I mask off with blue painter's tape around the hole. Then fill with the correct color plastic wood. Sand and THEN remove the tape, then final careful sanding. Then use correct sealant/varnish to match.
1/8" diameter holes in black walnut will try wax sticks, the one that splintered out quite a bit is in a vieneer with lots of twig penetrations, so maybe I can exacto cut to blend. THX for input. Covered the old Kool o matic control hole with just a dark cover plate.
