Title: 1996 fire egress window?
Post by: Saltfevr on October 20, 2018, 06:03:45 pm
As an 18mos ft 1st time owner. I've searched this site, and my owners manual. No info on my dining room and bedroom fire exit windows.  Do you just pop out screen and climb out? Don't see any hinge swing out mechanism?

Most likely, or maybe slide screen (like ours).

BTW, a month or so ago we discovered that if the window is open the coach is effectively unlocked. The screen slides, but it is on the inside of the window. If the sliding window is open someone can slide it all the way open, then slide the screen out of the way and crawl in. I now have dowel rods cut to fit so that the window CAN'T open that far.

Yea, our fire escape windows are just like we have at home. Open it up and jump out.

Thanks for the replies David and Jor. I did notice how, easy for someone to slide screen with open window and make entry.

They'll need a ladder.
Has anyone here on the forum actually had an intruder get inside their rig via a window, or any other way?

I can't imagine anyone climbing in a window unless in an unsecure storage yard. I keep a hide-a- key and lock ours anyway.

If you are in bear country you might want to keep the windows closed and locked. They wouldn't have any trouble opening a partially open window and crawling in. Once in they don't know how to get out.
