Title: Looking to buy 36'
Post by: SV K on October 31, 2018, 08:50:22 pm
Hello,

Just traveled several hundred miles to see a U270 that supposedly had no bulkhead issue only to find busted Roloks, separation and big rust flakes.  Thanks, but I'll pass!

So I'll put it out here on the Forum that I am actively looking and ready to buy a nice U270-U320 36' CAI model, the one with the private head.

I am located on the West coast, but will of course travel for the right coach.

Not interested in a fixer upper, but happy if yours needs batteries, tires, flooring, old air bags, inverter/charger, dead fridge or dead Aquahot these are all items I am comfortable taking care of and will probably upgrade in the future anyway.

Thanks for your time and please PM me.

Kevin

Suggest (if you haven't already) take a look at MOT inventory on-line and give Mel (Salesman) at MOT a call to see a lot of available coaches and get a good feel for the market and perhaps find a coach to your liking.

Also, there is this coach for sale on Austin Craigslist, although I wouldn't pay over $30K for it, maybe less pending inspection

2000 40' FORETRAVEL GV320 - rvs - by owner - vehicle automotive sale (https://austin.craigslist.org/rvs/d/foretravel-gv320/6734106886.html)

If has been sitting forever and even if you are handy it will cost you to get it going and reliable, it is just the way it is.  USe them they seem to be a lot more reliable than when they sit. Let them sit 15 years without using, and there will be many issues that pop up in the first two years of ownership.

FWIW, a trip to TX to see units not too bad - Austin to Nacogdoches a doable drive, also lots of resources to help you inspect in NAC area if you want outside advice.

Thanks Tim,

There are some nice Foretravels out there, but I am only interested in the 36' CAI model as it is the right length for me and has the separate private toilet room.

I guess I should throw out there that I am currently in Missoula, Mt.  If anybody wants me to look at the '97 36' U270 (Not CAI model) listed on Craigslist for them I'll be here for a couple more hours.  The coach is on display by the highway, but the owner/dealer? will not be back for a day or so which limits only outside inspection and a peek in the windows.

Thanks to all who have responded here and sent me PMs.  I do appreciate the coaches offered and the helpful suggestions that may aide me in my search.

Just to save everyone time I am only after the 3600CAI model.  Seems it was only offered in the 295 and 320 coaches at the end of the 90's and I don't think any were offered with slides as an option, but if they were, as nice as slides might be I prefer a non-slide coach.

As to budget...well that would be between myself and any owner who reached out to me with their coach for sale.

I am in no rush and if the right coach comes along then that will be the right coach to buy.

Thanks again
Kevin
