Title: 1999 U320 for sale.
Post by: craneman on November 02, 2018, 08:22:47 pm
Drove for 4 hrs. to look at Skylark21's motorhome listed in the classified. Pros,The electronics capabilities of Bill is way over my pay grade. The coach has 6 very large 2 volt AGM batteries and a solar system with remote powered tilting panels. He built his own AH controller with larger contact relays and even built a tester to test all the components in the AH. The coach has full body paint by Xtreme and full headlight conversion including the generator cover, also full rear conversion including the engine door. 2 year old FSD's, sliding storage trays in both storage bays. Some kind of electronic system for reading everything about battery SOC and input and output of current. New Motion windows in all windows except windshield. Tires 2 years old not verified.
Cons, original air bags, passenger side rear has damage from rubbing on something which took off the bedroom awning. Most is just needing to be cleaned up but a trip to Xtreme is what would put it back like it was after all the upgrading. He has full timed in it and the interior has a desk instead of the table and chair behind the passenger seat. The carpeting has vinyl sheeting so the condition underneath is unknown. I went there intending to buy it on the spot at the $40,000 asking price and sell my coach. However the DW was with me and the condition of the interior and NO RESIDENTIAL REFRIGERATOR killed the deal. So anyone wanting to buy a coach with about $50,000 worth of upgrades and repair the damage and clean up the interior. This might be for you. He can be messaged in classified as he didn't want me to post his number.

Jojoba Hills is our home base! If you had circumnavigated the storage lot, you would have seen our coach up on ramps in the northwest corner. I have chatted with Bill but never looked closely at his coach or seen the inside. I know he has done various electrical upgrades, and I think the asking price quite reasonable. It would have been instructive to look it over with you...

I would never turn down a good coach because of not being converted to residential fridge, as most are not converted yet. Lots of info on converting, just a job that needs to be done before traveling, so prepare for doing or having the conversion done. No purchase is perfect. That's why we buy these older coaches, so we have something to do, put our personal touch, and spend more money.

I have done the conversions myself and this one would be very easy only a cupboard under the existing refrigerator and it has the width to install the same 22 cu. ft. I have in mine. But happy wife happy life the interior was something she couldn't get past. I have the coach that used to belong to Ron, the owner of innovative coach works. He did extensions for the air ducts, installed the residential refrigerator, changed all the day and nights to Levelor's and so much more. I would have had to keep my current coach while I made all these changes and I figured someone without a coach would appreciate it more. If I was the only one making the decision I would have bought it.

The price is good from the looks of it. The paint looks nice, but not sure why it cost so much....  Seems like he put a lot of thought into it and that is always a plus.
