I had water drip coming in from the refrigerator vent I think I may have fixed yesterday.. I pulled the four screws that hold the vent on and found 2 of the screws that were rusty the full length of the screw. I put four new screws in with rubber washers and then dobbed on geocel sealant covering the recessed areas the screws set in.. I went ahead and put geocel brush on around the cargo rail attachments because I couldn't see where anything had ever been applied before. I went ahead and brushed/ dobbed geocel around all clearance lights.. My greatest concern now is even though it was 72 and sunny yesterday, the next 2 weeks will be in the 50's at day and 30 to 40's at night and I just hope the sealant cures.. I brushed a light coat around other vents.. I see no sign of water stain except a very light stain spot inside the rear bedroom cabinets on the white carpet ceiling.. I will leave it in the barn for a month but do plan to drive to south Texas in December. I suppose if there is a question it would be can I expect the geocel to cure and get firm in less than Ideal temps.. There are raves on this geocel brush on product, I will hold my opinion for the time being.
Geocel is setting up fine.. I had a bit of concern because the can read apply @ 1/16 of inch and there were a few places on the clearance lights where there was a bit more gap.. The 4 low places where the screws hold on refer vent required a puddle more than 1/16 in... I think Geocel pro flex may be a good product and I like the brush on application better than a caulk tube because I can do a cleaner job.
Dub,if that was the rectangular plastic vent directly above the frig,we replaced ours and it had about 20 stainless screws.
That's true David but I was talking about the 4 long screws that hold the plastic vent cover on.. The base with the 20 something stainless screws looks good but I still put a bead of sealant around the base of that. That's one plus of the Geocel as they claim you can brush it on over exsisting sealant if you choose to.
Dub- I have used Pro Flex for years with great results. I have sealed up a couple of leaks over the years including roof seams. I like the brush on and that it goes over the old stuff, less time on the roof ( not a favorite thing of mine). Hope you have a good experience like I have. ^.^d
You are the one that put me on to Geocel Ted from one of your older post... Thanks.... I was able to do a neater job with it vs a caulk gun which I do a poor job of.. Something else Ted that may or may not work but I'm going to look for a oversize syringe minus the needle and see if I can funnel some Geocel into one.. May not be able to but man if you could I could see a person doing a neat job of filling tight places.
