Title: Transmission leak
Post by: Seven7 on November 08, 2018, 06:53:39 pm
Looks like my HD4060R Allison transmission is leaking from what I believe is called the output seal.  I'm looking for recommendations on where to have it repaired in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.  I PM'd propman about Industrial Power in Ft. Worth. Thanks propman!  Anyone else have any good experiences with transmission service/repair in this area?

Thanks,
Glen

Had that leak fixed in Houston area by Allison service for about $500.

Contact me if fixing it down here works for you, 50 amp plug included in cost.  I know where the locals go to eat.

It is possible the folks in Ft. worth know what they're doing.  However, I used Industrial Power in McKinney (SP?) and it was a disaster.  They put a young kid on the job of changing fluid and filters and had one of these "no one in the shop" policies.  I'm convinced that the kid used an airgun on the filter bolts because, by the time I got back to the Houston area the tranny was down 4 qts., the filter cover areas were wet, and several bolts around the filter plates were just spinning.

Since I've never seen any reason to go back to a shop that screwed up badly once, I used Diesel Power Supply in Waco to repair the damage:

2525 University Parks Drive
Waco, TX  76706
T.: 254-753-1587

IMO they are honest, forthright and practical.  If I'm even close to towing distance to them with an Allison problem I'll go back.

Thanks Rudy, BillO, Barry & Cindy.  I'm going to run it up to Stewart and Stevenson in Wichita Falls.  I was able to talk to Scott the service manager there and we scheduled it for Monday morning.  The Dallas location only allowed a "drop off" status and estimated it would be there a week.  I'll let you know how it goes with the Wichita Falls location.

Here's an update.  I took the coach to Stewart & Stevenson in Wichita Falls.  The service manager Scott Shelton said to bring it in at 0800 Monday morning.  Two hours later they were done and after a test drive and leak check I was on my way home.  This was such a good service experience compared to some I've had in the DFW area.  I would recommend them for any of your transmission issues.  He also said he would be glad to answer questions over the phone.  Really nice guy and very customer oriented.  His number is 940-716-5921 if you have anything to discuss concerning your Allison transmission.
