Built this "plug" to help keep the bay heat in and any critter out.
Good idea Bill.. This is my first winter with that kind of door so I have a towel stuffed in there to hold bay heat in.. Next summer I will do as you did.
Nice!
Very simple... used a scrap piece of 1x8
Measurements approx.
Bottom board 1ea 6"x 6.5 "
Middle spacer board 1"x6.5"
Top board 1'x 8" notched to fit inside ridge
Cut hole for utility line(s)
It will hold itself in place
Just a very important note to anyone doing this little wet bay opening plate. You must make sure that you put a piece of rubber seal or foam to match up with the door seal on opening or there will be a big enough gap between it and the inside of door to let them in. If you look at the first picture in Bill,s posting you will see the gap I am talking about.
I made mine a while back to suit all items that go into bay with sliding stops so I can just have one or all things hooked up, and it was when I installed it noticed the necessity for making sure it matched up with door trim seal.

Here's a picture of what I did. Used a sponge to fill the gap and insulated the gap between the top and bottom plate.
Good point John, I appreciate the feedback, will need to make a modification for it to completely close off. Thanks!!
I'm thinking of making a sewer sock. Google it.
Looks like a lot of work, not to mention putting more holes in the floor to me.
Will try and find it but was looking a few weeks back and a company had a liquid you mixed and sprayed on the tires and areas
to repel mice, was alittle pricey around $100.
We kept hearing about how effective Irish Spring bar soap was so invested heavily in a dozen bars to supplement the electronic plug in devises. If you open a box of Irish spring, you can almost smell it throughout the house, so there might be some truth to it.
Mice sure are quite the Menace, I know now from first hand experience They LOVE Wires, and I'll be fixing them for quite a Long Time, as they Got into the Underbelly Conduit, under the Fridge, under the Drawer area directly below the Stove, etc. I ended up with a total of 5 of the Varmints, and one eluded most efforts to get him, until just last week! I had a full 3 months since the Saga started to eliminate them all! The first four I nabbed within days of each other, but the last holdout must have saw what happened to his kinfolk, so was crafty!
We have now put in the Irish spring pieces, everywhere we can! It should be effective, as many success stories are out there! I think I'll buy Stock in the Company, and add my Testament in it's use IF it does work! 8) We must have purchased about 5 of those 10 packs, and cut those up into 4 smaller pieces, and distributed them all through our House, the Cars stored, and now the FT! They have caused me enough grief, for sure! I used both regular Mouse traps and the Sticky trays! Those trays with a small dab of Peanut butter, worked the best, IMHO!
We have had good success with a product called "Fresh Cab." We get ours at Menards but it's also available online. We put 4 pouches in the main-floor areas & 4 in the basement & replace every 3 months. Works well & smells great!
I use a couple electronic units that run on batteries along with peppermint oil. So far so good. You can always get rid of critters fast by using a bee smoker! They do not like smoke!!
I liked your idea I copied it. With of course a few changes. I had some bulb seal left from a previous RV and used that around the electric cord to seal it. I also screwed some bulb seal to the edge of the wood to make a tight fit.
Second picture.
We have packed wire wool around the sewer pipe where it goes through the rubber mat and around the gap between the water tank and the wall effectively cutting off access to the coach if a critter should venture in.
Now I will add a plate to seal the cable entrance
