I am going to hate this but I have tried searching and I am more confused now that when I started.
I need to add some oil to my 97' 8.3 engine, is the Delo 15-40 still the correct oil?
I see from the PO that he used Delco 15-40 in his first oil change but all the others he just says oil and filter change.
I know the makeup of diesel has changed since 1997 with the sulfur content :o
If you have a 6v92 or 8v92 Detroit, they require Delo 100 40 weight- no blend
I had 2 of those engines and they are 2 stroke
If you have series 60- blend is ok
I use the Delo 400 15w-40, years ago it was the 10w-30. As long as you use the Delo 400 with the API rating of CK or CJ it should supersede the earlier ratings. The last I purchased was the 15w-40 CK.
Maybe Brett W. will chime in with some clarification..............
Thanks, I need to get it this morning when I take a load out to the coach
Delo 400 15-40 is a fine choice for your Cummins C engine.
So is Shell Rotella T 15-40.
Both are well-proven and available at all Walmarts, truck stops, etc.
Thanks Brett, as soon as I finish laundry I will go get some and head to the coach with a load of stuff. ^.^d
Costco had the Delo 400 CK on sale when I left home last week. Don't know the time frame of the sale.
Thanks I will look it up ;)
