Title: MSD shades will not go up
Post by: turbojack on November 25, 2018, 07:09:48 pm
This morning two of the shades would not go up. They only  would go down past their stop.  In looking at the wiring diagram it is shade  SH21 on Shade controller C & SH27 on Shade controller E  I was going to check and see if the power is being reversed at the shade controller but I have no idea where they are located.

In reading it looks like they lost their programming but from what I can read you have to start with them all the way up, not all the way down.

Figured I would have to wait until tomorrow and call FOT

One of mine does that. Once in the programming mode, it will go up.Or you can take it down, and hand roll it up, then program it.

Maybe this will help:

In reading MCD web site there was a note that said if down and would not go up,  do NOT hand roll up, and call MCD Tech support # 1-800-804-1757 for instructions

I will be giving them a call in the morning.

I believe they mean don't force roll it up. I meant to take it down, and hand roll the fabric over the roller.I have always gotten mine to go up, once I got it in programming mode. You have to play with it.
Good idea to just call them if your not comfortable with it.

Talked to MCD tech support.  The two shades had lost programming while they were down.  The instructions for programming the stop limits for the shades are all over the web and they say to start with the shade open, press the program button and the DOWN switch at the same time until you hear the three beeps. If the shade is stuck down and won't go up (As mine were)  Press the program button and the UP switch at the same time until you hear the three beeps to get in programming mode. Then following the rest of the programming instructions except you will be doing it in reverse from the instructions  (Down button in instructions and shade is up button and shade movement. Up button in instructions and shade is down button and shade movement)

This Friday I will be stopping at FOT and will find out where the shade controllers are located for future reference.

Good info. One of mine keeps loosing it's memory. Even with instructions you have to fiddle with it.
I don't believe there is a control, it is built into the shades.
