Title: Need wiring info
Post by: folivier on December 07, 2018, 12:33:02 pm
Knocked some of the wires loose for the 3 switches on the passenger kick panel when I pulled the panel off.  Not sure which wires should attach to what switch.
Anybody have an idea how these should be connected?

It looks like the center step switch is fed power by a jumper from the switch next door.  I'd hookup the white wire there and the green ground wires to each of the outside switches. You can briefly touch the terminals together to test before committing.  Worst case is you blow a fuse....I think.

I would take the loose wire that is closest to a terminal and put it on that one. to start with.  So the bottom green wire to the bottom switch, top loose green wire  (middle wire) to the middle switch, then to top white wire to the top switch

I have a fuse holder with a Red and Green wire attached.
Size of fuse  according to size of wire using on up to 15 amperes..
left over from Air Force days

Thanks guys, when I do get it figured out I'll either label each wire or tape a schematic to the back of the panel!
I'll be there again next week and figure it out.

Do you have a wire chart in the back of your FT book?  All of those wires should be numbered.

I have a bag of alligator clipped jumper wires to test what is what. Not too many choices here

I use zip ties with label tags where I need to label wires or a clump of them.  For bigger cables write on a small Post-It Note, stick it on the cable, cover it with a clear shrink tube and shrink it.  Perfect.

I'm likin' that clear shrink wrap over the label, Roger. What a great idea. Thanks for the tip.

This is what mine looks like from the top, hope that helps. The far right green is the interior, middle is the step/floor lights and the left is the porch light.
