Tried to have bedroom curtains dry cleaned, they said because curtains had a "plastic like" lining they refused the job. Has anyone had their curtains cleaned and would you share how. Pretty sure they'll shrink if washed.
I think I have the same curtains with the inner liner, kind of a blackout curtain. These are original in my coach, I took them off and threw them in the washer and dryer without any issues. If they did shrink, it's not noticeable.
i inquired to foretravel back in the 90's about washing the bedroom curtains on my
93 280, they said washing will negate the fire retardant on the curtains.
I have to believe that worry about the curtains losing there fire retardant would be the least of your worries if anything cought fire in a coach
Just saying.
Thank you, good info all, that's what I'll do then.
Thank you for being the guinea pig. ^.^d I was just thinking yesterday about cleaning our curtains, and then you posted last night. I have been watching the responses with interest, and would love for you to document this cleaning of them. Maybe take pictures of them before, and then after. I would love to see how they are compared to what we have, (material, condition pre-cleaning) and the condition of them afterwards. It might seem like such a mundane topic to most, but I would
really appreciate your feedback through the cleaning process.
I had forgotten about the fire retardant drapes, the velvet I think is more flammable than smooth fabric.
I was actually hoping NOT to be the 🐹, lol, but sure I'd be 😊 to document with pics. Thought I'd check the forum one more time for reassurance on washing, before diving in head first. Now that they're down, I couldn't possibly put them back up without cleaning them some how.
Red apple---BE BRAVE!! nothing like first hand experience

Finally got around to washing the curtains this past weekend. They came out beautifully! Measured the curtains before washing and after they were dry and they did not shrink-at all. I'm not seeing where I can attach pics...curtains were in extremely good shape, no fraying, some fuzz around the Velcro areas and 18 years of soil. I used Shout on all the dirt areas front and back and worked in lightly with thumb. I did have one spot on the lining that didn't come out, should have worked the area better. And one small ink stain on a corner edge that lightened up but didn't come out. Neither spots can be seen, so it's all good. I did buy starch thinking I was going to have to put some oomph back into them, but honestly they don't even need ironing and feel the same sturdy quality as when they went in the washer. I did not dry them, just line dried. Well there you go, the guinea pig has reported, your turn,
PS- curtains are an ivory color with a wavy illusion pattern to them, guessing a cotton/polyester blend, no velvet. Valances match.
Did you wash in cold water? Hot water? Dry them in a dryer or air dry? Wife wants to know.
Thanks.

Permanent press cycle on washer, basically warm wash, cold rinse. NO dryer. Line dried.
The reason I didn't go with cold water, which is the obvious choice, is because the stain remover wanted warmest possible setting. Permanent press cycle was as "warm" as I was willing to try.
