Post by: Ward on February 03, 2019, 11:52:49 pm
Can I get some advice about replacement of a cracked windshied on a 1998 U295.  Coach is stored in Las Vegas.  First time Forum user, thanks for the help in advance.  Ward Hamilton

I'd call your insurance company first, maybe covered under comprehensive glass coverage.

Make sure they glue it in, and wait 24 hrs to move

I just had my 95 U240 passenger side replaced at FOT due to crack.  Gieco, Customs Glass(Ohio), and $500 got her done.  FOT did glue and not move for 24 hours.  I did not notice until after the job was done, I got blue tint on driver's side and green on passenger side.  Not noticeable.  I am happy.

Is this a common thing to do?  I just don't feel right using insurance for "wear & tear" items.  What is the cost of a new windshield installed out of pocket approximately?  Mine got hammered this year, 2 cracks and 3 rock chips.

Mine offers it at a deductible with no harm with the insurance going against me.. its a service.. use it if its covered

My Safeco covers 100% no deductible. But any claim is a claim, discussed this completely with my agent. Probably not a big deal, that is what insurance is for.

I was quoted $1200.00 one side, cash deal in Yuma last winter.

I may have both sides done with insurance this Spring, but it bothers me, because the one on the drivers isn't that bad, but you know the minute I get them done, I'll get a huge star in the drivers vision. LOL

Passenger side has crack from top to bottom at the curve , doesn't really bother the Mrs or me, not in line of sight.

As a side note: Rain-X makes a repair kit for chips in your windshield, 10 bucks at Walmart. Easy to use and hard to make a mistake. You can make several repairs with one kit, best if used on a warm sunny day
