Title: Sofa Latch
Post by: floridarandy on February 15, 2019, 01:47:21 pm
The sofa bed in our coach has storage underneath. There is a door at the bottom front with 2 push button latches that hold it closed. These are plastic and one has now broken. I'm looking for a replacement but those I see in previous posts and on Amazon, are short cabinet type latches.  These are 3" long.

Ideas?

Get the latch at Rockler.  And use the extension on the old latch.
Push Button Catch | Rockler Woodworking and Hardware (https://www.rockler.com/positive-action-push-button-catch)

Use a threaded extension for the right size and length. Like these

Or standoffs - here

Foretravel parts has this latch in stock.  They can sell the complete assembly for $18 or the individual components separately for less.  In our case its the mechanism behind the door that's broken so we don't need the trim ring, brass button or the aluminum standoff.

Sometimes the solution is EZ.

It is good to have alternate sources for things like this especially if you have or want to change to brushed nickel or oil rubbed bronze finishes.  An $18 item from FT might cost another $18 to ship it to you.
