Our Aquahot runs just fine on diesel, most of the time. However, it will Fault (light in switch goes out) occasionally. This happens about once every two days on average. With the electric element Off, it has faulted 3 times in 4 days, which is about typical. Each of these three times, turn off the switch for 15 to 30 seconds, back On and the burner has ignited immediately and normally after the short prime cycle.
The unit was recently serviced; new nozzle, filter, and clean combustion chamber. After that, to correct a fuel leak, installed bearing kit, new fuel pump, and solenoid kit. Also, ohm'ed the the flame sensor/detector and it was within spec. Of course, since I did this work, anything is possible.
There is no pattern to the Fault occurrences. It will work fine for four days, two days, 1 day, or 4 hours!
I am suspicious of the coil, which reportedly can be intermittent and thus hard to test.
I believe the Fault occurs when the burner tries to ignite and fails. Fuel supply, incorrect spark gap, coil, or ????
Ideas??????
Thanks, Dick
Usually the controller, but flame sensor and igniter could cause the same thing.
Dick, Sent you a PM. Call me
Coil?
I am going to guess silver box.
I'm going with coil
same symptoms that I experienced....turned out to be the coil.
I vote for the coil as well. One fault in 100 tries defines failure.
It appears the control box answer wins. A friend gave me the 'working' silver box he salvaged from his Blue Bird before trading it. After 10 days there have been no failures.

Be sure at have the old box rebuilt as a spare or maybe someone might offer you the core charge for it.
I happen to have a silver box that needs to be repaired, available. PM me if you need one, to have rebuilt, as a spare.
