The search is still on - well that sounds like we have been at it for more that the last week. MOT has one
1999 Foretravel U270 36 (http://motorhomesoftexas.com/coachrv/foretravel/1999--u270--36--C2184)
its not the U320 we had in our mind, but it would fit our needs, has had a paint job and new front lights and quite possible some work inside.
Does anyone know anything about this coach, "what people do with the coach means more than the age or mileage" and wondered if anyone has any history (first hand or rumored) would appreciate the info
Thanks
David
While that's a useable coach the single propane furnace does limit its winter use somewhat. Oak is lighter inside
Nice coach! Not not to down play the 270s, but. 295s have 3 battery's, 2propane furnaces, and bus style bay doors. The 320 has aqua hot, and 194 gal fule tank, and 450 hp as well. Just some considerations. Just depends on your wants and needs.
It matters not: I'd be looking for something like this: it's STILL a crapshoot, though! ^.^d
My wife and I have been shopping Foretravels for about a year. We looked at this coach at MOT last week. Chassis Rust appeared to be very noticeable I assume because of its use in the northern US and Canada; Coach looked great however the chassis did not look good.
U295. also has double wide refer with ice maker built in,Safe, DHS or Boise audio system, door bell, built vacuum, larger dock lights, deluxe interior lights, Dock lights and gen start at bedroom with digital alarm clock overhead of bed, leaded glass cabinet doors, deluxe faucet in wet bay,I won't go on.
Your correct Bruce, U295 has 2 heaters. One large, one smaller
I had these features on a two of our coaches. Besides being kind of nifty they can also be pretty annoying. That clock stares you in the face and I was always cranking the generator when fumbling with the light switches up there. Check out the same area in my 270. Can't go wrong! :D

I don't know that coach. But when you find the right coach don't let the model stop you. We love our 270, 40' so has 2 furnaces. But we rarely use the rear one and we live in the NW. Bus style doors would be nice, oh my aching head, but you get use to it. And we really love the lighter oak interior, it makes the coach much brighter inside.
Happy hunting, best of luck. And you've already found the best resource for info on these coaches and Great people. We couldn't do this without the forum.

Same great construction - that's what you're really after anyway.
On edit: I just looked at the photos, and it appears there's lots to like about that coach. What else can you buy for $59k that's even close to that??
I love our bus-style doors, rarely ever use both furnaces, and would like oak just as well as walnut. If you like the layout and other things you can't change, then give it consideration. Good luck -
If that the one from Canada I have been told that there is a lot of rust underneath - not one you would want.
beautiful inside, but they would have to come way off the price to allow for the years of ice and salt damage.
When MOT cuts the price it's usually for a good reason.
As always, independent inspections are mandatory.
There is usually a FoFum member there about every week to put eyeballs on a coach with a simple ask
Would you consider a 1999 U270 36' that is clean and in good condition? Ours is for sale.
My U270 34ft just withstood -5F temps, non-winterized. One furnace is fine. Here's how:
- Furnace set to 60F
- Small 200W electric heaters in basement, both sides of utility bay
- Three 4 inch fans and pushing air from living area to utilty and battery bays
All temperatures were monitored. It did great. The advantages of the U270 are:
- Simple, no slide-out design
- Less weight, only 29,000LB
- Simple heat. No aquahot.
- Same Foretravel quality.
It depends on your budget and lifestyle. Aquahot may be best for the full-time lifestyle, but be prepared for more issues and more dollars. The U270 heater is a simple forced air system, maintained by most any technician. The original Atwood forced-air heater was noisey, so I replaced it with a two-stage much quieter Suburban heater.
Best of luck with your search.
I agree with all you said, except:
*** U295's & U320's don't always have slides***
***Our U295 36' wieghs 32,000. Have wieght slip***
