Title: Headlight question
Post by: hdff on March 23, 2019, 11:13:38 pm
I have a question about the operation of the headlights. If I turn the windshield wipers on the head lights come on... is this normal on a U320? If so I assume it's a safety thing?

My 2003 is not like that, wipers work independ of the lights.

Keith, Mine does not work that way either.  A wiring error or wiring modification.

In many states the law requires that headlights be on when the wipers are on. Sounds as if someone has modified the wiring to automatically meet this requirement.

Howdy Keith,
Our coach works the same. Just the headlights and not the tail lights.  I sometimes pulse the wipers to use headlights as daytime running lights.  It may have been modified by Rance when we did the headlight upgrade. I think it is a safety feature.

Howdy Dave, Glad to know I'm not the only one. Mines the same, just the head lights no running lights or tail lights..

Great Feature!  I run with my lights on, and as soon as I am ready to Roll, Every Time, anyway!  I have been doing that anyway, since the day I first got my Drivers license, and so glad the Auto-On/Off feature is commonplace, now! And yes, until I got used to that I certainly had a Dead Battery or two! My Father was a Truck Driver, and instilled that in me, early on!

Maybe mine works that way too after we did headlights.  I never notice because my headlights, tail lights and markers are on if the coach is moving.

"I never notice because my headlights, tail lights and markers are on if the coach is moving." That's me, too. For that matter, the car is the same way. I learned that from the Civil Air Patrol back in the early 60's, several years before I was able to learn to drive.
