Title: Prepping for MCD Shade - Dashboard Header with Bose Surround Sound Boxes
Post by: Siren on March 24, 2019, 01:34:35 am
Hi, folks,

We are headed to MCD tomorrow to be in their queue for Monday morning measurements to get windshield and door MCD shades.  We have a 1997 with the Bose Surround Sound 3 speakers up front on the dash header.  They all have the carpeted boxes that stick out into the windshield area, which will be in the way of the new MCD shades.

How do we go about taking down those carpeted boxes, thereby eliminating the front Bose Surround Sound speakers?  What have you done to modify the area so that you continue to have surround sound speakers for the radio?

Below is a picture of the windshield dash ceiling area showing said carpeted boxes that we need to remove.  As you will see, we only have one black speaker recessed in the ceiling up behind the dashboard header.  I also attached a photo of one of the Bose Surround Sound Speakers on the dash header, as well as one with the carpeted box behind it.

Any help from those that have been down this path before us would be greatly appreciated.  ^.^d

One suggestion would be to replace the Bose with a soundbar.  There are some really nice ones out there.

my experience - MCD will figure it out - wait till you get there - you will have days between measurement and install

I have MCD all around and have my original bose still installed - your install could be wildly different - but they have seen it all

sound bar also a good option
