Post by: Flatfisher53 on March 26, 2019, 09:58:48 pm
I am moving from Florida to AK in June and have a 2000 U270 that I will be driving with a 2016 F150 crew can 4x4 approximately 5300 pounds and I'd like to tow it on an aluminum trailer approximately 2300 pounds...thoughts?

Should be okay if you are under 41000 lbs total, but would avoid drag races with Porsches.

Flatfisher man,
As Jim said, stay under 41,000 lbs GCWR and you will be fine.
We pulled a 24' Featherlite enclosed car hauler (about 9,000 lbs fully loaded - car, Goldwing and trailer) behind a '98 U270, for many years and while not speedy off the line or up 7% grades, it was a trouble free and more than adequate combination.  Full, proportional trailer braking and overrated ST tires are mandatory as well as conservative driving behavior, but otherwise the combination is a very stable, predictable and trouble-free mode of travel.
HTH,
Neal
