Title: Holes in roof of Slide.
Post by: Rodaboss on April 13, 2019, 10:08:32 am
Trying to determine what the holes in the top of the slide are for, do not have a slide awning.  I can post a couple of pics.

You should have slide toppers that model yr. the holes are probably where the locking no go if you have one of the earlier gen slides

Can't see so good but is it for the lock pins on the slide?

Not sure about FT's but on my Newell there was a hole on each end that the lock pins would drop down into to lock the slide in.  That looks similar.

There is a drain line from the top pin holes out the bottom of the slide.  These are often plugged up.  Every couple years when the slide is open wipe the inside of the slide pin sockets with some silicon grease, it doesn't take much.  You will know when it is time when the top pins with the slide in start chirping when driving down the road.

Somewhere on the Forum in the past there was a description of blowing out the drain lines.  I am pretty sure it was from the bottom with not very high pressure air.  Makes a mess at the top.

On mine, I think there is a single drain hole in the middle near the outter edge of the slide.  My slide is in right now so I can't check to confirm.  Put a rag over the upper lock pin holes before you blow them out or you will have a big mess.
