Title: Chassis battery ground
Post by: Mike & Noi on April 26, 2019, 10:48:50 am
92 U280 chassis battery has a resistance ground.  Does anyone know where the battery ground is terminated?

On my wiring schematic B-2126 it shows the chassis batteries ground at two points.  One cable (labeled B2) goes to the starter.  The other cable (labeled B6) goes to one of the coach battery negative posts.

The coach batteries have one ground cable (labeled B8) that goes to a central grounding lug.  I don't know where it is located.

Near the starter, on the frame, is a bolt containing several ground cables. I believe one of those is what you're looking for.

Nobody has ever complained about too many or good grounds. Many electrical faults can be attributed to bad grounds. First thing I check.

I have found over the years that people only think a wire has only one end. Everyone needs to check both end of a wire/cable and both wires-"hot" and ground. Any time the cable/wire goes from copper wire to a crimp fitting or a molded battery clamp you have a potential bad spot to check out.
