Title: Google fails me.. part number for oil pressure warning lamp sensor?
Post by: twobus on May 22, 2019, 11:45:24 pm
Hi y'all. I thought this was gonna be a 1 second search and then have Amazon send one right out. Buuuut noooo! So does the expert pool here have a part number for the low oilpressure warning light sender for a 3208t? It's the one on top of the engine sorta near the turbo. This one started leaking and is replaced with a blind plug.

Just search Google for a oil pressure warning switch with what ever threads are on the plug. 1/8th, 1/4 pipe etc.

Jay,

Is this the Caterpillar OE part or the sender for the Foretravel-installed system?

Brett, I wish I could tell. Going through the manuals, I'm not seeing info pointing either way. I suspect Craneman is right and any sender that threads in will work. For the outlay, I think I will go ahead and fire this particular parts shotgun...

While many sensors may have the same threads, you need one with the same "ohm range" to properly communicate with the gauge.

Post a picture showing its location on the engine-- we do have those (not me) who are familiar with the 3208.

I am pretty sure this is just and idiot light switch which warns of low oil pressure and is not to run a gauge. I used them to shut ignition on race cars if oil pressure was lost.
