We have no power to the dash unless the boost switch is on. Starting batteries are good (had them checked this morning). Engine won't start and we are supposed to pull out of the campground today.
Generator starts with no issue.
We also found a broken wire. Repaired, no change.
What is our next step?
Bang on the ignition solenoid or jump it as shown in other posts.
I agree, ignition solenoids can fail, but not sure that using the boost switch would make a "bad solenoid good".
Check that both positive and ground wires to start batteries/starter and chassis ground are clean, tight and that the cables are not oxidized (green vs shiny copper).
We are running! Went through and checked/tightened all connections again and it started right up! Not positive, but believe it was the stacked cables on the battery's.
Thanks... you guys rock.
It is almost always a connection on the start battery. It would never be the solenoid if the dash lights up with boost.
That broken wire you fixed was probably the ground wire on the boost solenoid. Since the boost switch worked for you, the solenoid probably makes a ground through the metal mounting plate. Fixing the wire is still worthwhile - you can't have too many grounds.
