Title: Leaking Rear right Actuator
Post by: nitehawk on May 31, 2019, 10:01:04 am
Was checking tire pressures, noticed a oily puddle around the passenger rear leveling jack.
I crawled under and it seems the actuator on the side of the jack cylinder is leaking.
Possibly the O-ring behind the 3/4-16 plug 8P50N-S  ??
How do I repair?
Block the coach up. Remove the plug and put in a new O-ring? Do I have to release all pressure to the system by raising the jacks to the store position first?

The factory has been a big help to me. Let us know what you end up doing:

Definitely put Jack's in stored position prior to removing a plug. May get some air in system that will take a few cycles to bleed out but won't damage anything, just make it jerky.

Yes, open the solenoid t handle for that jack to allow return of oil to tank. Once that is done I would pull the jack down manually to vertical position then you can work on the actuator, or remove it completly to fix.

I retracted all the jacks using the toggle levers. The rear jacks retracted to their normal position of about 25 degrees short of horizontal so still in reach of working on them.
First priority right now is finding a roof leak and sealing it before the next rain. In the meantime I won't be needing to use the leveling system.

Found the source of the leak. Actuator cylinder wall has a crack down thru the bottom 3/4-16 hex plug. A new o-ring will NOT remedy the situation. I called HWH re Pt#AP4079. Waiting for return call.

A new actuator assembly is on the way!! Only $150.15 (shipping included)
Great people at HWH to deal with.
When the actuator arrives then the fun begins--getting the old one out and the new one in. :))
Bet some "shop language" will be heard coming out from under the coach. ???  ;)
