Title: Removing the right hand Headlight,
Post by: Mr B3 on June 25, 2019, 10:48:14 pm
How do I get the right hand headlight apart to get it out of the hole it sits behind on a 36 foot 1998 Grandvilla, ORED,
It has two plastic things, like a round block with two square protuberances on it, Which I assume it turns to allow it to go out the Square holes in the light,
I made a tool to fit but it still wont turn the round bit,
The other end is just a bolt sticking out,
The heater is in the way to push it back and drop it down under the coach,
I need the head light out so I can get at the steel on the bulkheads,  I am going to cut out the thin steel angle and replace it with a solid steel tube welded to the Angle Iron frame on the chassis,
Then I will bolt it thru the Fibreglass to the out side of the Coach, Packed inside the fibreglass wall so it is solid,
I have fixed the left hand side, The windows dont move on that side, But the right hand side still does,
This is the frame I made up and welded to the angle iron the runs across to both sides of the coach, Its now bolted thru the walls to a stainless steel plate on the outside of the coach,

Thanks Brian,

Brian,

I did a thread on replacing the headlights on our '93 GV.  On our coach, the lights come out through the front of the mounting hole.  I included some photos, which may be helpful IF your lights are mounted in the same way.

Yes, Its the same Bronco light as yours,  I will try twisting it as you have,
The left light comes out easy,
But the right side has the heater behind it, So no room to push it backwards,

Thank you, Brian,

They should both come out the front.

Thank you all for your help,
I finally got the headlight from the front after turning it sideways,
But it as a struggle and a very tite fit, I had to force it the last bit,
I really didnt think it would come out that way,

The stiffeners are in and bolted up, Inside the walls I have put a 40mm square tube and packed out so that it fits flush with the fibreglass and different sized packers to make it fit the different gaps between the existing angle and the packer I put in,
Now I will weld a bar across the front of the coach to lock both side walls to the big stiffener I made up and welded to the Chassis angle,
Hopefully this will stop my windscreen from moving sideways,

Brian, for what it is worth, now that I am late to the party. I removed both my headlights on our '89. Like yours, I had trouble getting them out and then back in. I ended up using a rasp on the fiberglass and created some "clearance" and then no problem once I figured out what attitude the headlight(s) had to be in in order to remove or remount the lights. Kind of like some of those kids metal wire puzzles that they had to figure how to take apart or put back together. Once you figured it out it seemed ridiciously simple.

Thanks Keith,
To get the light back in, I will have to grind some of the coach away a bit, The back of the frame that holds the light in,
Only about 1/4 inch deep and an inch long,  But it will fit in then,
Lucky there was a hole in the bulk head to get it out,
I really dont know how they got it in there, It is very tite,

Is there a video some where on replacing the wind screens, Thats my next big job,
I have two new screens and new rubbers to go in,
A video of it would help me immensely,

Thanks, Brian,
