I have a Pre Tell LP Gas Detector on my coach. It looks like original equipment. It has a reset button but I see no way of testing the detector. Does anyone know anything about this particular detector?
Here is a pic...

Wow, that is a real antique. Suspect it is a at least a full decade out of functional service. Replace it ASAP.
Thanks Brett. I'll do that, and send this one to the museum.
Should the replacement be put in the same location?
That is a good location. And, since you have 12VDC there, an easy one.
I turn the gas off at the tank and then turn the stove on. Then I turn the gas back on. It always blocks the gas until I hit the reset button. It chirps otherwise. OEM '93.
I first thought the post was "pray tell."

Try this: notice the factory made a frame to extend the 'sniffer' out a little bit. They don't last very long, should be tested often. Spilling whiskey works well.
A lot of the new ones have an expiration date stamped on the back of the unit, think it's about 5 years functional life
When you full time, you are lucky to get THAT MUCH!
Pierce, are you saying your "Pre Tell" still works???
From what I can tell, it exhibits all the signs of functioning.

you can test with a BIC lighter, just blow the flame out and hold it in front of the sensor.
that company CCI has been out of business long enough that any thing that is still installed should be replaced.
I've been through two of them since we bought the coach in late '14. The last time, I put 'quick connect' spade lugs on, so it's easy to remove/install fresh ones. ^.^d
