I've been moving this part around the coach since we owned it without having any idea what it was. Now only hope I can find where I last stored it!
It took a 9 year old post from Michelle to "turn on the lighbulb" in my head. We're going to sanitize our water system before we head out on our 4 month trip and I didn't want to run bleach solution thru the everpure. This plug apparently allows the user to remove the filter and install this plug to allow water thru the kitchen water dispenser with running through the filter. Who knew ....probably anyone but me.....til today.
One last question for the group. If I"m not mistaken the icemaker gets its water supply from this drinking water dispenser. If I turn on the icemaker presumably it will draw bleach solution into the icemaker. Not sure I want to do this as the amount of clean water I'd have to run would need to be significant (a whole batch of ice to throw away?) to take the bleach taste out of the ice?
Thanks.
Randy, my suggestion; cut into the supply line that is feeding the water to the filter and icemaker and installed a shutoff valve. I used a 1/4 turn ball cock valve and now I can shut off water to filter and ice maker without disturbing the rest of the system.
I will try and post a photo of this to help you.
Okay, here are the photos; one shows a tee in the line and that was spliced into the water line running along the floor. I then added a short piece of PEX and installed a ball cock valve with the quarter inch connector to allow the water line going to the filter to hook up. The ice maker line comes off the filter itself, so when you turn off the valve, you stop all water going to filter and ice maker. Works like a charm and in fact, I installed ball cock valves on every supply line to faucets, etc. Makes it easier than running out side and shutting of manobloc valves. It also gave me a reason to install SS flex lines from faucets to the PEX.
Regards, Joe
Oh, you want to make sure you are cutting into the cold side of the water line. lol Hope this all makes some sense!
It took me a long time to find the plug, original owner had no idea where it was. If the goal is to sanitize the whole system then do the refrigerator ice maker as well. Throw away ice until it tastes OK. The under sink filter filters out chlorine. The line to the icemaker in our coach as a shutoff valve.
Our U270 has the separate Uline Icemaker located opposite the kitchen sink and water filter.
