Title: Entry way side walls
Post by: leejrfla on July 21, 2019, 06:50:17 pm
Hello I am in the process of replacing the flooring in my coach and the old carpet goes under the entry way side walls.  Can someone chine in and instruct me on how to remove them without damaging them.  Pic is attached.

Thanks in advance
Woodie

We just removed our carpet and installed new flooring, but did not have the partition you have.  However, it may be bolted or screwed from under the floor and there has to be some trim that is hiding the screws on the vertical wall.  If you want to leave the carpet on the stairs side walls, than I would cut the carpet that is laying on the floor at the entrance and install a metal trim to finish off the carpet and lay your flooring and use a trim piece on top of the new floor.  I will try and find a link to my photos on here under remodeling section.

Where did you get that trim piece for the top of the stairs? It looks great.

Looks like molding that would have been offered with the new flooring.

And, pulling up old (OK really old) memory, to remove the wall behind the entry on the 1993 model, you need to remove the panel to the rear/dinette side to access the bolts that hold that wall in place.

On my 92' there was enough room to pull the carpet out after I pulled up all the staples I could get too. A long skinny flat blade screwdriver & razor knife was all I needed. There was about a 3/8" to 1/2" or so gap under the entry way partition. I was able to slide the new flooring under without any problem.

Good luck with your project! It's a lot of work but worth it.

Removing the panel that Brett mentioned is the key and as Kent said a flat bar works well. Had the same issues. Good luck take your time 👍

Same here. As Brett said it can be removed but it is a pain. I left mine in place but there was enough room to get the tile under it.

The flooring manufacture had the trim pieces.  Some do, some don't, so that makes a difference in deciding which flooring you select, in my opinion.  Very happy with results as rest of floor was cut to fit tight against the cabinets, etc.
