Title: Water filter
Post by: Dub on July 26, 2019, 02:18:39 pm
I can't find my answer in a search.. Under the sink water filter the filter housing has the numbers QC 2 and another J24.. I called Everpure and also went to their web site and can't find anyone who can tell me what the actual filter number is. I'm assuming this housing has a filter inside it but again assuming.. Hated to take it apart until I have a replacement in hand. Does anyone have a filter housing with my numbers?

You have to lift the black lever, then turn the black ring then turn the filter to pull it out,

What faucet? That filter only filters the little pump looking faucet and the ice maker. If it's coming from the sink faucet, it ain't because of the filter.

Kitchen faucet.. hot and cold.. lasted a few seconds then cleared up as quick as it appeared..If not from the filter I am very interested in knowing from where.

Do you have a whole coach water filter system?

Not the shower or bath faucets? Like red says. And are you running from city or tank?

Filter only filters to the one spigot on the counter top.. The one instance the water looked like carbon black was in the sink.. No odor and no grit to it.. As I said in opening post I only run from tank water and have run thru countless tanks full. I can't have this water get black on Karen in the shower. Sink supply lines are the usual grey pvc except the last foot which is stainless on both hot and cold.Flippen wonderment..I had earlier thought the filter filtered all sink water but just looked again and it doesn't.

I had turned on the kitchen water to wash my hands when the incident happened.. I didn't immediately try the shower or bathroom sink but we had flushed the camode a number of times in the 400 miles I ran that day and camode was clean. That's why I believed it was isolated to the kitchen. Lasted probably 5 to 10 seconds but was black as carbon with no odor. We showered a couple hours later and have had no incident since.. I can't let it alone because one time in the shower for the wife with that black mess in her hair... well you get the predicament.

Check the faucet strainer first.

10/4 Twig... Red Tractor.. If there is a whole coach filter I can't find it. Have had this rig one year but I've been all over it countless times.

There is none installed, Dub. red was referring to those that usually sit outside that people add on. Or add on some where else, but add on. Usually in the wet bay. Huge, you would see it if someone added it.

I know Twig but I can't see where one was added.. would think it would be in the wet bay but don't suppose it would have to be.

There is another member lt403 that had the same issue.

Lt403 believes he solved his issue with a new filter. His may be plumbed differently than mine but a under the sink filter couldn't have been my issue the way it's plumbed.

Trust me, it ain't your filter. If the black water came out immediately, and since your system is pressurized, I would think it would have to be related to the faucet.

Dub on my 95 my filter is like yours it only filters the ice maker and kitchen faucet. Did this occur when you changed the filter? Changing the filter for me was a real pain. I don't use the ice maker and we carry bottle water for drinking. I keep the valve closed. I don't believe you will have any issue in your shower. The black may have come when you opened the valve for the filter.  I don't believe it's a major problem. But your right happy wife happy life.

Dub,

If you still have the OEM water pressure tank the diaphragm may be starting to shed some of the rubber of the side that is in constant contact with the domestic water.

Good morning,
I recently had the same issue. My filter sat higher than the t connection that supplied it. I would run the kitchen faucet w/o the pump on and I think it would back flow from the filter to the t then up to the faucet.
I ended changing the filter, which had no date on it , and have not had the problem since.

I gave some thought to the accumulater tank Mike..........Joe. I never changed the filter and don't think I will now. When the water cleared up it was as sudden as when it was black I mean in a second..If I change anything it will be the kitchen faucet and or the accumalater tank.. Information points there for possibilities.. It really caused no hardship because the wife was outside and didn't see it but I did tell her about it..One of those things that probably will never happen again but it sure makes one curious. I'd rather had it in the kitchen than in the shower with wife standing under it.. That dog wouldn't hunt for a minute.

My guess is that you lost water pressure and had a little water backflow from the filter into the faucet line.  then when you turned on the sink that little bit of water went to the sink faucet.

Just a guess

Maybe possible Steve but don't think so because I turned the pump on probably half a dozen times during the days drive and it takes longer for my system to loose all pressure. Thanks for input and all the above considered.

Forget about the filter. It ONLY contains water for the ice maker and the lil thingamajiggy next to the faucet. As for the accumulator tank........if you take the water line off the accumulator tank you can plug it rather than remove it. I think it's a hose bib thread as I recall. Put a bucket under the tank to catch the water it holds after disconnected. That's a good idea, maybe rubber bladder is the problem.  If you get black again then you can connect it back up and go look at the faucet.  I don't want to see the dog kicked.
