2012 nimbus, the dash ac blew hot air on the trip home from Nac. This problem started just before we arrived in Nac at FOT in 2017 after the deer smack. Wondering if the smack loosened something on the freon container and created a slow leak. It took us about a week from the smack to limp into Nac when the dash ac went hot during the last 45 miles coming into town. Not sure why it wasn't checked during repair, but things happen.
Does anyone know where &what to look for on a Nimbus?
I'm not familiar with the Nimbus, but over time refrigerant can slowly migrate through the hoses. It may be that you are just very low on refrigerant. The first thing that a technician would do is add refrigerant, and see if it cools. After that check for leaks. Refrigerant hose is not just rubber, it usually has a plastic liner and some other stuff to strengthen the hose as it has to withstand high pressure. My coach is a long run of hose from the engine to the front. Metal tubing doesn't leak, but vibration may cause metal fatigue and a leak. Most systems are a combination of tubing and hose. Leaks can occur at the compressor shaft, connections, and of course holes in the condenser or evaporator. These holes can be very very small and most likely to occur in the evaporator. It's not difficult to add refrigerant with the right equipment, but there are safety considerations when doing this, like wear goggles and don't turn the can upside down. Have an AC technician do the work if you are not mechanically inclined or familiar with working on Air Conditioning.
