Help! I just stepped into my RV and the power was off. The rig was plugged into the pedestal that we have at home which has worked before and the EMS Surge Protector read 0 Error. I tuned off the 50 APM at the pedestal, waited a moment then re-clicked the 50 APM. When I went back in, waited a moment, no voltage but the red reversed polarity light was on.
Hurried out again, clicked the 50 AMP off and unplugged the whole unit, including the EMS Surge Protector. When I moved the surge protector, the plug to the bottom of it fell out on its own. I securely replugged all, turned the power back to 50 AMP and protector said "0 E". I went back inside the rig, waited a moment and the power started up with the green normal polarity light on.
Is it possible that a deer or something else tripped over the line and partially pulled out the ground prong? I am keeping my eye on it, but I know that Paul (Old Knucklehead) would have asked you guys for your expertise.
I am getting ready to do my first trip without Paul and appreciate any help.
5 min later - just went out and checked again. AC is working as is electric house refrigerator, neither red nor green light is on.
Kathleen......not the best electrical wizard here, but maybe a power surge from a blackout..???
Enjoy your trip and keep an eye out on the pedestal.
Keep in touch, we are all here to help.

I sure wish one of us were there to look at it in person. I always enjoyed Paul's posts. Was it the coach plug to the surge protector that wasn't in all the way? That could certainly have caused the problem. I don't know how to explain neither red or green light on.
I'm glad you're going I to use the coach. God's best to you in your travels.
There are some faults that have no explanation and seem to heal themselves. I would not worry about it but just keep an eye on the system. If it re-occurs then it will need looking into.
