In another thread, Bob (caflashbob) talks about his Samsung inverter fridge. Is this the same basic tech in a rooftop A/C unit? Why don't they sell this stuff in the good old USA? Is there some government regulatory barrier to importing this model? Could this not replace the Atwood 15K BTU heat pump that Dometic is apparently intent on killing?
By the way, they still sell the Atwood 15K BTU Air Command in AU. It is called the Dometic Aircommand Cormorant Mk 2 Reverse Cycle Roof Top Air Conditioner.
Note: after searching, I see this subject came up in a thread here last year (I missed it), so not news to some of you. But still interesting, I hope...

I don't know about tech. Price sure is high. Most likely doesn't actually sell for that price. Who knows! Maybe the winds of change are slowly blowing new technology into Rv industries ac system options.
I probably would have bought that last week when I needed a new AC. Sale price not terribly more than the $1,200 cost of tge direct replacement unit.
The specs say 3100 W cooling capacity, which converts to 10,500 BTU, little less than 15,000 BTU, but I think would work fine. Looks like a great A/C.
I think I found the catch, requires 240 VAC 50 Hz.
And it still pulls 13 amps, if they make a 110 volt version.
