Title: Hot vs Cold water and Bleach!
Post by: juicesqueezer on August 16, 2019, 10:33:10 am
Getting ready to sanitize our system and after checking past information on this forum, did not see anything about the hot water lines.  So, my question is this;  should I run the hot side of the faucets as well as the cold in getting the chlorine/beach in all the lines?  Just don't want to have an issue with this and sorry if this is been covered before and or just common sense!  Still learning after all these years!  lol  I have an external filter and will remove the cartridge and fill with the bleach to sanitize the fresh tank and then run through the lines in the coach until void of bleach smell.
Thanks in advance!

Introduce disinfectant at the beginning, start at the fill hose end.  A particulate filter makes this easy. Temperature makes no difference but once younhave about 20 gal in the tank, stop filling and run it with the pump through every faucet, hot and cold, shower, toilet, outside faucet drinking water tap until you small some bleach in each one.  Finish filling the tank and run more water through all the faucets etc again with a more diluted mix.

If you are "shocking" the system let it sit for a few hours, I do about 4, and then drain it out including all the lines and then refill with fresh water.

We leave our coach while it is waiting to go again full of water with a couple tablespoons of bleach. If it sits more than a couple weeks it gets drained and refilled.

Use FAMCP34200.  You will need a couple pipe to hose adapters.

You are the best Roger!  Thought that the case, but wanted to be reassured!  lol  Will add the bleach at our exterior water canister after removing the filter itself!
