I found this stuff in the clear bowl of the primary fuel filter that was replaced 3,000 miles ago. There was some in the bowl two years ago, but not that much. Last spring I replaced all the fuel lines in the coach as well as the two fuel filters. I always add Penray to get rid of asphaltine and a shock dose of JB Biobor for algae at each fill up.
It doesn't look organic to me, but I have never been shown algae or asphaltine before . I have never seen any debris in the primary fuel filter bowls for either the genset or the AquaHot, so I'm thinking the stuff pictured could be coming from the bottom of the fuel tank where the engine pick-up is?
Also, the pleats in the filter were full of what looked like the same substance only more powdery, not chunks.
I guess I could put some chunks in Penray and see if it dissolves them like it does asphaltine.
looks like fuel hose "bits" coming apart.... IMHO
I can pulverize them between my finger tips.
