Title: Rotor for a 10kw power tech gen
Post by: Caflashbob on August 28, 2019, 01:48:23 pm
Jeff at power tech says my rotor is failing on my gen.

Volts came up then slowly faded to zero.

Turned it off then restarted it.

Of course it ran fine.  3 hours with both a/c's on.

The rotor part number is 02GEN10TCGE.

I remember someone having an extra one of these?

Any help would be nice.

Thanks in advance.

Bob

Mine had a bad winding about 11 years ago. Took it to the Power Tech shop in Los Angeles. They rewired the rotor, and it's been fine ever since.

Sorry Bob,
I have a Power tech 10 KW stator.
You sure it's the rotor?

John I am not sure.  The stator is the major part, correct?  Windings?  Did you post photos a while ago on this?

How did you end up with a stator if I can ask?

Versus I buy a power head from power tech?

Voltage drops off to zero as I posted then it worked next time.  My guru guy mentioned it turned off on him also.

Mine was the voltage regulator.

Bob, Why is it not a failing voltage regulator?

It may well be that.  My only info was to call Powertech today and Jeff thought  the powerhead was failing.  Voltage fell over a few second time.

Restart it worked fine.  Jeff mentioned if when hot that it fails was the powerhead.

I have a new end bearing and a new voltage regulator here.

Did any of your failures  match my symptoms?

Bob, Why is it not a failing voltage regulator?
Not Bob, but Jeff helped me troubleshoot my issue and said if the main breaker had 4 or more volts it was the regulator, less it was the rotor.
