Title: New owner 1995 U300 4000 S.E. wondering how to fill the fresh water tank?
Post by: bhunter58 on September 01, 2019, 12:03:19 pm
I just bought a 1995 U300 4000 S.E. I am on my way home with her, and cannot find anything in the manuals or online about filling the fresh water tank? I can't even find a hook up for fresh water, or a fill point. What am I missing?

The fresh water tank usually fills from the shore water connection, and there is usually either a valve in the bathroom or kitchen (ours is under the bathroom sink).  Can't say where it would be on a U300.  There may also be an electric fill valve with a switch somewhere on an S.E.  Maybe on a switch panel in the kitchen?  Does your coach have a hose reel for shore water?

Yes, been there too. Most are filled via the shore water hose in the wet bay. After that there will be some valves that need to be positioned properly to fill. Next is the water fill switch. I have 3, one in bath, one in wet bay, one in kitchen. Once flipped the tank should fill.
It's a hassle and slow. Many have put in direct fill systems in and I plan to do that soon. Good luck. Pictures will help if you can't find it.

Photos are a BIG help when you ask questions like this.  Foretravel coaches were built in MANY different configurations.  Some were custom built to a specific customer's design.  For that reason, it is hard for us to "guess" exactly how your coach might be laid out.

Take a "wide angle" photo of the bay area where you find the dump valves for your waste tanks.  We need to see everything you can see when looking around in that area.  Then we'll be able to tell you where your fresh water line connects.

On a '95 U300 your water tank fill valve is probably a manual 1/4 turn valve under the bathroom sink, as mentioned by Dave.  It might be hidden under a piece of carpet that lays on the bottom shelf.  If you find a valve there, you can tell if it is open or closed by the position of the handle.  Handle lined up with the water line = OPEN.  Handle at 90 degrees to the water line = CLOSED.

When you are filling the fresh water tank, keep a eye on the tank level readout and try not to over-fill the tank.  If you put too much water in the tank, it will overflow out a hose that dumps water on the ground just in front of the passenger side rear wheels.  It is recommended that you avoid doing this, if possible.  Your coach should have a 102 gallon water tank.  See Specs link below:

1995 Foretravel U300 Specifications (http://beamalarm.com/foretravel-links/models/1995_foretravel_u300_specifications.html)

After you fill the water tank, remember to close the fill valve.  If it is left open, and you turn on your water pump, you will have very little or no water pressure and the pump will never shut off.  If your water pump ever runs continuously and won't shut off, either your fill valve is open (even if just slightly), OR a faucet is open, OR you have a water leak somewhere in the coach water pipes.

Keep the questions coming!  The members of this Forum will do all we can to help you get the most possible enjoyment out of your new ride.

Welcome to the Foretravel family.  We joined up in February of this year and it's been joy ever since.  We had two previous motorhomes before going full time and it's been a blast learning the Foretravel way of doing things, many of which are the way I wish our previous coach had been built.  The Foretravel is engineered by design and what may not make sense at first will with time make sense.  Art Joly

If empty, the water tank may take 30 minutes to fill. You WILL get tired of turning the valve every time you want to fill the tank. Several posts on installing a direct fill into the tank. We don't leave the shore water connected but fill and use the 12V pump. This is in case of a leak.

Good luck on your new coach and welcome to the forum.

If your coach is a 300 you likely have a fill switch in the wet bay compartment rather than a manual valve. Here's a photo of our 95 300.

The red arrow is pointing to two separate toggle switches. One of them turns the water pump off and on and the other is used when you fill the water tank. If you have a water hose on a reel, just connect it to the water source faucet, turn on the water and flip  that switch. It will direct the water to your water tank.

If you do not have a reel, connect your hose to the faucet and the other end to the "city water" connection. The green arrow points to that. Then flip the water fill switch.

When you are not hooked up to an external water source (city water) that fill switch should be in the off position and you turn on your water pump with one of three switches you likely have (wet bay, bathroom & kitchen).

Well, thank you VERY much to everbody who replied, MUCH appreciated!
I did figure it out, the connection is in the wet bay, with ywo other hose connection for sewage and grey water flush. The problem is, it has a LABEL under it: "sewage valve" in the same spot, lettering, font eyc. as the other two hose fittings.
Anyway, I finally realized what it was, hooked up the hose, flipped the "fill switch") one in the bay, one in the bathroom, and all was good. Water aboard.
Still lots to learn about our coach, thanks again to all!
