Title: Toweds, Toads
Post by: TGordon on October 05, 2019, 02:49:26 pm
I have purchased a 2014 Jeep Rubicon.
My question is: Will the odometer accrue miles, with the key on, while being towed?

It will not. No electronics are on when towing so nothing is registered.

No need to leave the key on. No wheel lock.

Some wranglers have incorrect information in the owners manual.    The "key on" instructions are only applicable to some exported versions with a locking  column.

Miles do not register when towing. Trans in gear or park if Auto  transfer case in neutral key in your pocket good to go.

My '06 Liberty requires that the ignition be on to release the lock.  Glad to hear they changed this.

Not sure about other Jeep models, I know Newer wranglers don't have steering locks.

My 07 JK has the steering column lock, needs key in accessory position and battery disconnected or a fuse pulled. My understanding mid 08 Chrysler discontinued the steering wheel lock.
