Title: Took the factory tour today
Post by: Tom Lang on October 10, 2019, 02:41:08 pm
Foretravel factory tour, 10am every Thursday

Now all coaches are built for and sold to dealers. Two in Florida and one in Texas at the moment, all part of RVR.

Planning to build 40 class A and 15+ class B Sprinter van conversions next year.

Outboard air bags are history , Realm, IC-37 and IH-45 are all built on Spartan K3,K4 chassis.

Thanks Tom!  Maybe if we hit the lottery some day!  lol  Haven't seen Paul T. in awhile!  He looks good!  I remember when he headed up the Motorcades back in the day!  Oops, dating myself again!

Short answer, no.

Complicated answer, they are not yet all gone, but just a few left. I heard all the consignment units were transferred to MOT.

On a side note, the ladies driving school, scheduled for next week was cancelled because FOT couldn't supply the coaches. Beverly scrambled and made arrangements for MOT to supply coaches for both (spring and fall) sessions next year.

Drove through FOT parking lot Monday night and yep, there aren't many coaches there.  MOT is full like usual.

MOT is even more full, having taken FOT's consignment coaches.

So if they took the outer  bags off on the new frame.. why keeps it from bouncing back and forth.. to be honest that is one of my favorite by products of my Fortravel .. no bouncing back and forth..

Spartan is now calling the new ih-45 chassis T3 605.  It still has the outboard airbags on the drive axle like the older ih-45 welded frames made by foretravel

Good thing, differentiates it from other coaches. No mention of turning or unloading tag.

Tag is passive  It turns at low speeds.  I think it locks straight at 20 mph.  Easy to tell if passive  or  not tag by looking at the wheel used on the tag. If tag wheel is like front then it is  passive, if looks like drive then it is not.

Turbojack, this one just drags when turning? Says liftable and passive. Thought the IH-45's were too heavy to have a liftable tag, or does it mean just bag dumping.

Jcus  the one in your picture  just drags in turns  If you are going slow enough you can push the TAG button on the HWH panel and it will dump the air in the tags. (Adding more weight to the drive axle) The tag will still drag with the air out. Since the air is out of the bags when you apply the brakes the tires stop turning  and leave rubber on the ground.

On the passive tag the tires turn only at low speeds in foward or reverse, they lock straight after I believe is 20 mph. After 20 mph going around a corner they will drag.
