Title: Passenger captain chair electrical problem
Post by: 18360 on October 27, 2019, 06:04:19 pm
Our foot rest never did extend.
We were trying to figure out what was wrong and in the midst of that we disconnected some of the wire nuts.
Is there a manual I can look at to figure out how to connect the wires back and figure out why the foot rest doesn't come out.
It's a "Villa" chair.

Rick, Don't have the diagram, but after looking at mine, it looks like the red and black wires in the black plastic loom are you ground and hot wires.  Red should be the hot. ( Be sure to check first with a tester )
The hot wire should go to the wires that are grouped together. The ground wire to the other.  At least that's what mine looked like.  Again, test them out with a volt meter or circuit tester first.  Hope that helps.

Don't know about the wires but our foot rest would not come up ether. There is a part but I don't remember what it is called. David flannigan at fot knows, he fixed mine last summer.. if you can take the chair off the base the fix looked pretty straight forward. I think the part was a couple hundred bucks.. call David he can tell ya, leave a message he will call back, he is a busy man.

Rick, make sure the vinyl isn't stuck together-- ours would not extend until I had dw push button and I pulled hard on foot rest.
once I got it out and really cleaned all the vinyl it would work properly

Mine had the same problem. I disconnected and reconnected all the connections several times. Sprayed some contact cleaner on the plugs and reconnected. Has work perfect ever since.

Thanks
I got the wires back in place.
Now I can work on the foot rest.

Yeah that vinyl gets pretty sticky. Mine  stuck too till I pulled on it. Now works fine, if a bit slow... getting old, like us.  8)
