Good evening.
We have 2009 nimbus and have to replace the Directv receiver.
The tv is 10 years old so not sure will work with new receiver.
Had similar situation at home as new tv has hdmi cable etc.
I am not too good at the electrical set up etc.
Anyway any suggestions on new tv install and set up Directv?
We are 100 miles from Nac so either MOT OR FOT or the new shop in Nac.
FOT of course did the original install when new and there is a mess of wiring in DVR cabinet.
I can't do on my own and must have someone else install new system.
Any suggestions?

Hi Craig, The older TV will work with the newer DirecTV receiver. A newer LED TV will be lighter weight, use less energy, will operate wiypth less heat, may have a bigger screen in the same size case and can have smart features built in for streaming options. Some of the newer TVs sacrifice speaker quality with the expectation that many users will have a sound bar or surround sound system. We had a 39" Vizio LED TV whose speakers were poor. It got replaced by a 4K 40" Samsung LED from Costco whose sound is quite good as it is. And for what you old TV cost you can get a very good TV today. I did buy the extended warranty with ours. Cheap insurance.
Everything gets connected with HDMI today, be sure to get at least three HDMI inputs, more is better. DirecTV, a disc player, a sound system, an Amazon FireTV or other streaming device, a pc ... that is 4 right there. And many sound bars and sound systems us pe a TOSlink laser audio link.
Plan out your install carefully. Be sure you have plenty of outlets available for all of the equipment. There are a wide selection of adjustable mounts. Ours moves in and out, moves left and right, pivots to the left and right and can tilt uo and down. The mount weighs more then the TV by at least twice. It is rock solid and in its stowed position almost never moves while travelling.
What satellite mechanism do you have? How old is it?
Not all new DTV receivers, work with the older dish's. Different LNBF configurations.

Costco doubles the warranty if you purchase it from them. Excellent prices too.
