Title: Best Source Filters
Post by: GleamB on November 10, 2019, 12:52:52 pm
I'm trying to load up on some spare filters to take along to Mexico. Just spent the last 1/2 hour googling the Primary fuel FS1287. Prices are all over the place. Where do you purchase the various filters?? Wonder if there is a consensus ??

I get most of mine from Amazon.  2 day delivery, prices are competitive,  sometimes you can find them cheaper but figure in shipping and delivery time.

Take at least two sets of fuel filters

Same here as Roger, I got two full sets of every filter, all from Amazon. Did some searching, and they seemed to be the least expensive overall.

Filter Barn? Finditparts? Might be an option also.

I have been getting the blue air filters from this place.  I leave enough lead time so fast shipping is not critical.

Donaldson Filters for Diesel Trucks, Engines and Tractors (https://www.dieselequipmentinc.com/)

Not the cheapest but in the middle - service is great.

Glenn, don't forget a generator and AquaHot fuel as well.

Will do. Spent hours looking for one source for the filters. Almost had it with Ryder fleetproducts, but I had to buy 12 gen fiters for over $300 !!??? Amazon didn't seem to have all the filters I need. Does NAPA have good filter crossovers ? I will be going to a Cummins in San Antonio. Maybe THEY have the filters needed.

Yes, NAPA has good crossovers. Our local trucking firm (logging) sells lots of NAPA Gold filters for about 40% less than a NAPA store. Wix makes NAPA filters.

Here is a x-ref chart: Donaldson – Michele Caroli Srl (https://michelecaroli.com/donaldson_filters.php)

Thanks Pierce,
hate to admit it....but I can't seem to use the cross reference to Fleetguard. There isn't a "search" box I can find. User error, I'm sure

Glenn,

Try this one. A huge amount of info in PDF form. It took me about 3 minutes to download. Also includes a Cummins link at the top.

Glenn, I just went to NAPA yesterday and picked up spare fuel filters.  Here's the part numbers for the NAPA Gold (Wix) filters and those that were used during my last service at Grizzly Diesel in Helena, MT.  IMHO the Wix brand is as good as you can get and have never let me down, and the nice lady at NAPA put the order on a "Filter Account" which saved me 33% off the online order price!  Best thing about this source is that if needed urgently on the road, most NAPA stores will have all of these in stock as they're common truck fleet filters.

Generator primary (and Aquahot) : NAPA 3583
Generator secondary : NAPA 3394 (3390 listed on Beamalarm but wrong size for my gen)
Generator oil : NAPA 1064
Engine primary water/fuel separator for the Racor r90P replacement : NAPA 3231
Engine secondary fuel : NAPA 3407
Engine oil : NAPA 7745XD

Woody.

We have used NAPA for all our filters.  They can cross reference as well.

Might I suggest this. Likely won't need oil filters, same with air filters in between services. 2ea of all your fuel filters is likely all you would ever need. Along with a set of belts and any tensioners you have. Just a suggestion all this stuff takes up space.

Having to buy 6 is kinda crazy  :o  :o
I know that my air filter was $40 less than any where else with shipping included.
There an option.

Nothing like buying water at anti freeze prices!

Here in Los Angeles I bought the Final Charge concentrate, then went to Wally world and bought distilled water. After checking the price I didn't save much. Now I just by the 50/50 so I can carry just one bottle in the coach.

Glenn, not sure what a D2 is?  Coolant filter?  I just got all of the fuel filters as spares.  Didn't ask for the discount...nice counter gal just saw I'd ordered them online and offered it up to save me some bucks...that's the South for ya (got em in Laurel, MS).  Will get the oil, coolant and trans filters when I get back to MT this spring for full annual service tho.  Might also check on getting a "filter account" at my NAPA store there.  Am in Florida panhandle for 10 days before heading to ATL and then back to NAC for a couple redo's first week of Dec....new slide bladder pulled loose on the sides and catches the windows, so slide room's gotta come back out.  Yeah, I'm more than a little peaved.  Been spraying slide walls with ZEP dry lube to move the room in/out so the bladder doesn't tear on the window lip.  Will keep you posted.  Woody.

D2 is the air governor: Haldex D2 Governor Service Data (http://beamalarm.com/Documents/haldex_d2_governor_service_data.html)

No, it is not R2D2's little brother.
